Rupashree Prakalpa is a welfare scheme launched by the Government of West Bengal on April 1, 2018. It provides a one-time financial grant of ₹25,000 to economically stressed families to help cover the costs of their adult daughters’ marriages.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the grant in 2026, the applicant must meet the following requirements:
- Age: The bride must be at least 18 years old, and the groom must be at least 21 years old.
- Marital Status: The applicant must be unmarried at the time of application, and the proposed marriage must be her first marriage.
- Income: The total annual family income must not exceed ₹1.50 lakh.
- Residency: The applicant must be a permanent resident of West Bengal, or have lived there for the last 5 years, or have parents who are permanent residents.
- Bank Account: The applicant must have an active personal bank account (sole holder) that accepts electronic payments via NEFT.
Application Process
The application must be submitted no less than 30 days and no more than 60 days before the scheduled marriage date.
- Where to Get Forms: Application forms are available free of cost at local Block Development Offices (BDO), Sub-Divisional Offices (SDO), or Municipal Corporation offices.
- Online Portal: Applicants can also use the Rupashree Online Portal to track status or download resources.
- Submission: Completed forms with supporting documents should be submitted to the BDO (rural areas), SDO (municipal areas), or Commissioner’s office (corporation areas).
Required Documents
- Proof of Age: Birth certificate, Voter ID, PAN card, Aadhaar card, or Madhyamik admit card for both bride and groom.
- Proof of Residency: Self-declaration of residence.
- Marital Status & Income: Self-declaration of being unmarried and of the family’s annual income.
- Marriage Proof: Wedding invitation card or notice of registration.
- Bank Details: Copy of the bank passbook showing account holder details, IFSC, and MICR codes.
- Photographs: Colored passport-size photos of both the bride and the groom
- Self Attested Voter card/ Aadhar Card of 05 Nos. witness of locality.
