Khadya Sathi

Khadya Sathi is the flagship food security scheme of the Government of West Bengal, providing highly subsidized or free food grains to approximately 90% of the state’s population. As of 2026, the scheme continues to ensure that no needy person is deprived of basic food resources. 

Key Benefits & Entitlements (2026)

Beneficiaries receive monthly food grains based on their Digital Ration Card (DRC) category: 

  • Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY): 15 kg of rice and 20 kg of wheat (or 19 kg of atta) per family.
  • PHH & SPHH (Priority Households): 2 kg of rice and 3 kg of wheat (or 2.85 kg of atta) per head.
  • RKSY-I (Rajya Khadya Suraksha Yojana-I): 5 kg of rice per head.
  • RKSY-II: 2 kg of rice per head.
  • Special Packages: Additional allocations are provided for specific groups such as tea garden workers, Toto tribe members, and residents of cyclone-affected areas like Aila. 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Residency: Must be a permanent resident of West Bengal.
  • Economic Status: Targeted at EWS (Economically Weaker Section) and BPL (Below Poverty Line) families.
  • Exclusions: Generally, government employees are not eligible for these subsidized benefits.
  • Condition: Must hold a valid Digital Ration Card. 

How to Apply & Manage Services

Citizens can access services through the official Department of Food & Supplies portal or the Khadya Sathi – Aamar Ration mobile app. 

  • Apply for New Card: Use Form 3 for new families, Form 4 to add members to an existing family, Form 6 to Change the Ration Card for whole family, Form 13 to split the Ration Card for family members (Except AAY) or Form 14 to transfer Ration Card due to shifting.
  • Online Services: Link Aadhaar with Ration Card, check Application Status, or download an e-Ration Card.
  • e-Ration Card: This digital version is as valid as the physical card and can be used to lift rations by showing the soft copy on a mobile device.
  • Offline: Applications are accepted at the offices of the Inspector (Food & Supplies) or during Duare Sarkar camps.
