Banglar Bari (Gramin), also known under the broader Banglar Awas Yojana (BAY), is the state’s flagship rural housing scheme designed to provide permanent (pucca) houses to the economically weaker sections in rural West Bengal.
Financial Benefits
- Unit Assistance: Eligible families receive ₹1.20 lakh for house construction.
- Installment Structure: The grant is typically disbursed in two installments:
- 1st Installment: ₹60,000.
- 2nd Installment: ₹60,000.
- Additional Support: Beneficiaries are also entitled to:
- Assistance for building a toilet under Mission Nirmal Bangla.
Eligibility Criteria
- Residency: Must be a permanent resident of West Bengal.
- Housing Status: Must currently reside in a kutcha or dilapidated house and not own any pucca house anywhere in India.
- Selection: Beneficiaries are primarily selected from the Permanent Waiting List (PWL).
